Navigation & Safety

• Counter-Clockwise Movement: Required in the deeper areas—especially where tubing and skiing are common.
• Motor Restrictions: None. However, slow-no-wake speed is strongly advised in the north end (up to the buoys).
• Hazards:
  • Stumps & Floating Islands: Common in the north end (often unmarked).
  • Outcroppings: Located in the south end, clearly marked.
  • Jet Skis: Allowed on the lake, all drivers must be certified, and if you are towing a rider, you MUST have a watcher on board.

Boater Courtesy

• Respect Others: Show courtesy to fellow boaters and private property..

Boating License Requirements

• Boating Safety Education Certificate: Required for all operators born after 1981 operating vessels 26 horsepower or greater.

Fishing Regulations

• License Requirement:
  • PA Fishing License required for anyone 16+ years old.
  • Must be displayed at all times.
  • Buy online at the PA Fish and Boat Commission 
• Catch & Release Policy:
  • Bass fishing is catch-and-release only.
  • Practice safe handling and use barbless hooks to protect fish populations.

Environmental Protection

• Invasive Weeds Prevention:
  • Rinse your boat before entering other waters.
  • No herbicides or chemicals allowed.

Law Enforcement

• While Lake Henry is private, PA Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC) officers patrol regularly.
• Follow all PA, local, and federal boating & fishing laws.
